Madrinas is a unique organization dedicated to the leadership development and advancement of Latina professionals. We are committed to celebrating our rich Latino culture. Through the organization we provide mentorship, role models, and we leverage our knowledge and experience to help shape the future of the growing pool of talented professional, Latina women.  

Our members are supported through skill-building programs, networking, and mentoring opportunities, in person and virtual forums. Our distinguished “Conversation with Experts" are monthly programs that feature a variety of expert presenters who address key issues, trends, and topics impacting Latinas in the workplace and at home.

Ella L. J. Edmonson Bell:
“Navigating Your Career”

Ella L.J. Edmonson Bell is an Associate Professor at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. She is also an author, managerial consultant, national recognized researcher, and advocate on women’s workplace issues. She is the co-author of Our Separate Ways: Black and White Women and the Struggle for Professional Identity. Her second book is Career GPS. As a nationally respected managerial consultant, Ella has shared her expertise and knowledge on discriminatory barriers in the workplace, strategic leadership, managing inclusion, and work-life balance with corporate leaders across the country.

Ella’s scholarly work has been reported in the Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, The Los Angeles Times, The Charlotte Business Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, Newsweek, Working Women, Business Week, Black Enterprise and Essence Magazines. She is considered by industry and the academy to be one of the leading experts in organizational change, and the management of race, gender and class in organizational life. In addition, Ella appeared on CNN'S Democracy in America '96 as a nationally recognized expert of race relations in the workplace.

The New Year always brings an opportunity to renew, refresh and recommit to goals which are important to our future happiness and success. No matter what challenges you faced in 2014, the new year ahead offers the opportunity to start again, make better and more informed decisions and use your wisdom to help you navigate opportunities and challenges in the workplace.

We at Madrinas believe that investing in yourself is one of the smartest things you can do as a professional woman to contribute to your success in 2015. This investment comes in the form of networking with others, learning a new skill, staying abreast of new research and literature on your area of expertise and making sure to prioritize your needs as important. Madrinas is here to help you in this journey. Highlights for 2015 include:

  • The launch of a new Madrinas + Simmons College Latina Leadership Workshop, designed to provide skills and training to aspiring Latinas on leadership development. 
  • Our keynote speaker on January 15th, Carmen M. Peña, to speak to members about "Reclaiming Your Right to be Happy, Healthy and Successful." RSVP here.
  • A special Madrinas members and friends of Madrinas networking session on February 19th at 1:00 p.m. Eastern to learn about the many different ways you can participate on committees and volunteer to become involved in Madrinas
  • A private social networking site where Madrinas members can build relationships, create discussion groups on important topics, post member photos and more on Our Madrinas Club 
  • The launch of a new Madrinas Coaching Corner (details to be announced soon)

These are just some examples of how Madrinas will continue to provide you with an array of resources, services, and subject matter experts as you continue to grow and advance in your career.
