Supporting Career Advancement Strategies for Professional Latinas

Madrinas is a national not-for-profit (501 C-3) organization dedicated to supporting the career advancement of  Latinas in today’s corporate/business environment.

Findings from recent surveys and studies report that in today’s competitive business environment,  the growing number of professional Latinas in the workplace are looking for supportive tools that will help them navigate through the complex world of business.  Key among these support factors -- mentors and champions for appropriate guidance and knowledge,  role models that reflect their own Latin heritage, and supportive networks.

In addition, they need to connect with influential power brokers, within their individual organizations, who can offer critical insight into corporate policy and culture, as well as access to career enhancement solutions.

Madrinas exists to provide this growing group of  professionals with critically needed nurturing through mentorship opportunities, a network community, and leadership/professional skills development tools and programs to help ensure their success and advancement.

We are always proud of the women who the organization has attracted.  And we are especially pleased when we can share their accomplishments with the entire membership.

This month we are especially honored to report that Arisa Batista Cunningham, our Treasurer has been recognized by Hispanic Business Magazine as one of this year’s group of “Elite 20”, women whose extraordinary commitments have had far reaching impact.  They will be celebrated at a special gala held annually by the magazine.  This year’s Woman of the Year Awards Gala in conjunction with the magazine’s annual Elite Women directory of influential female Hispanics, featured in the April issue, will be held on May 22nd in Phoenix, Arizona.

Arisa will also be recognized by the Latino Commission on AIDS for this efforts and contribution to the development and launch of a program for the NY Latino population with the Esperanza Award at their Cielo Latino dinner on May 13 at Cipriani on Wall Street.
